Bereavement Group

Grief is a process, a journey with no specific time lines.  It involves not only the physical loss of a special person, but the loss of roles we had in conjunction with that person.  It can be a very old loss, or a very current one.

PRHPCS is offering you an opportunity to help navigate this journey. We will be meeting the 1st and 3rd Monday of everyone month at the Prairie Pioneers board room at 7 pm. We hope to share with you some of the challenges, and with general discussion and sharing, help you to move forward through this stressful time.  Please feel free to bring a friend.

Topic/Discussion Schedule:

  • Understanding Grief – Nov 16th (Janice)
  • How has this loss affected me and my family – Dec. 7th (John)
  • Moving through grief  – Jan. 18th  (Janice)
  • Making sense of intense grief – Feb. 1st ( John)
  • Managing difficult situations – March 1st ( Janice)

UPDATE:

The final session of 2020/2021 Bereavement Group will be held on Monday, April 19, at the Prairie Pioneers building. Our plan was to host seven sessions on a variety of topics relating to grief and ways to move through the process of grieving – due to Covid conditions and concerns we were only able to have two sessions at which people were able to attend. Our session on the 19th will still offer a summary of much of what we had hoped to share.
This opportunity to look at / work through grief issues arose as a response to requests for support in the area of both pre and post-death grief realities. As a society, our goals include helping individuals and families face and deal with long-term pain and end-of-life factors in ways that offer support and promote healthy options in situations where physical healing is not the expected outcome.

We will be re assessing whether PRHPCS can continue offering grief resources.

In the meantime, please check out this local grief resource – Jenn & Darlene @ Stronger Life Connections on FB Stronger Life Connections or https://www.stronger-lifeconnections.com/
